What a hugh treat it would be to collect that parchment -like haven, put it in a large glass jar in the middle of the dining room table and then some unpredictable morning , find a marvelous, colorful creature flapping its wings -- just imagine what joy such a sight would be !!!
Howdy! I saw the hits to the site, and popped over to see. Looks like a nice big cocoon; hopefully it'll come out this Spring.

I liked the lepidoptera photos on your journal, too. I've been raising domesticated and wild silkmoths since 2001; they're such beautiful creatures!

Wow - that's very cool to know what you will find. I take it that you'll be keeping an eye on that cocoon now? It would be amazing to see one of those beautiful moths emerging.

Nina - Yeah... I know exactly where it is and I thought I might bring it home, now that I know how to take care of it. (I wonder how my family will feel about a cocoon in the crisper! Ha ha...)

Thanks for the link. That's a fantastic chronicle of the moth.
Can you go back and find the cocoon?
It would be neat to see it emerge--those giant silkworm moths are spectacular!
