Well, we’re getting blasted with snow… and with a screen name like WinterWoman, you can bet I’m pretty happy about that. My dog loves snow, too, so the two of us headed out to tromp in the woods this afternoon.
Bergman Park sits at the top of a hill and the wind whips across like crazy, bitter and biting. In winter, the park road is closed. It’s a five or ten minute walk from the parking lot to the protection of the woods. Today, I nearly turned back. Twice. But I pushed on, remembering that if I could just get to the path, all would be well.
Sure enough, as soon as I entered the woods, the wind was tolerable… more like a breeze… and the path invited me to walk deeper into the calm.
No matter which way I turned, there was a scene more beautiful than the last… and I wondered… how can that be? I am reminded of the Navajo chant:
With beauty, may I walk.
With beauty before me, may I walk.
With beauty behind me, may I walk.
With beauty above me, may I walk.
With beauty all around me, may I walk.
So I walk…
Pretty pictures, Jenn! I love being out when it’s snowing like that and the world has become so quiet and muffled by the snow, and all you hear are the birdies and your footsteps crunching in fresh powder.
Snow, snow everywhere and not much for us here! All around us received huge dumps of snow, and our little area …. maybe 3″ at most. Sigh. My husband is discouraged … he wanted enough so we could x-country ski. Today it is melting but another cold front moves in tomorrow … but with clear skis … no snow … only ice. Bigger Sigh.
Great snow pics!
Soooo beautiful, your walk.
We are forecast our first snow this evening, continuing into tomorrow. And before the 1-3″ (sniff) have even arrived, people are grumbling.
I’ll be out standing in my field, face up, as the first magical flakes fall.
wonderful for sure! Isn’t it amazing how much snow we got over the past day?? Crazy
Love the 2nd photo, and especially the poem. Although we get no snow here, I’m looking forward to the Sierras getting some more so I can do some XC skiing! There is exactly zero snow at my usual XC place right now 😦
Your photos are just beautiful! You can really make good Christmas cards from them. Snow is so much fun 🙂
Thanks you guys! You are so supportive! You make my day with your kind comments.
Lovely winter pictures! I like to walk in snow, but the ice we got in the recent storm has made walking treacherous, especially with new snow on top. Winter is not my favourite season, but I try to enjoy it as much as possible.
Wow! It looks so pretty in your pictures, but how I hate shoveling it and driving in it etc etc, if I could stay home and paint or draw it however…..
So snow is beautiful if you don’t have to drive anywhere in it! If I could stay home, it could snow all it wanted!!!
Great Scenery! It’s making me look forward to my first walk in the snow this year.I prefer my walk to be on a day when the air is cold but still-No wind thanks you!-
Beautiful shots-a wonderful walk!
very interesting, but I don’t agree with you
